INTERNSHIP PROGRAM FOR RedLAC/RELAPI MEMBERS

Within the framework of the follow-up activities of the regional workshop ”Promoting Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Latin America and the Caribbean: Strategies and Partnerships”, organized by the World Bank InfoDev Program and LATU/INGENIO in Montevideo on May 2006, INGENIO Business Incubator will organize an internship program aimed at promoting the exchange of entrepreneurs and staff working in Business Incubators of the Latin-American Network of Science Parks and Business Incubators (RedLAC), sponsored by InfoDev and RELAPI (Latin-American Network of Science Parks and Business Incubators Associations). This internship program, which is sponsored and financed by InfoDev, has been one of the priority actions identified during the workshop to promote the development of the regional network.

1. PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
Encourage the exchange of experiences and knowledge across members of business incubators affiliated to RedLAC, through a program that will contribute partial funding to internships.

2. BENEFICIARIES
The program is oriented to:
1. Entrepreneurs belonging to business incubators in incubators that are members of national associations affiliated to RELAPI and members of RedLAC that are clearly related to one incubator or park.
2. Staff members of such incubators.

3. EXPENSES TO BE FUNDED
The program will cover hotel expenses in the location of the internship (accommodation only), two-way ticket in Economy class from the place of origin through the most economical route, plus boarding taxes, up to a maximum of two thousand American dollars - US$ 2,000 per internship. Expenses will be reimbursed once compliance with requirements and presentation of expected reports is verified.

4. REQUIREMENTS
a. Candidates should be entrepreneurs working within RedLAC/RELAPI business incubator members or staff members from such incubators.
b. Interns must be RedLAC/RELAPI member incubators or tenants thereof.
c. The incubators whose candidates belong to should, in turn, be willing to receive interns.
d. Internship tenures should be at least 5 full working days long.
e. Proposed internships should be relevant in terms of the affinity of activities between the institutions or businesses involved.
f. The beneficiary must submit a final report to INGENIO, presenting details of activities conducted and results obtained in relation to his/her request for internship.

5. APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Candidates should submit an application to eestrago@ingenio.org.uy including details of the internship as well as the following information:
a. Personal data of the individual interested in the internship, including a CV of up to 3 pages. b. Name of Institution or Enterprise he/she is part of.
c. Information on the Enterprise or Institution to be visited.
d. Recommendation letter by Incubator in country of origin and Incubator granting the internship.
e. Schedule of activities to be carried out during the visit, including duration, objectives, goals and expected results.
f. Schedule of both preparatory and post-visit activities.
g. Rationale as to why internship is needed or convenient.
h. Estimation of expenses to be reimbursed.

6.SELECTION CRITERIA
a. We estimate that a total of up to twenty (20) internships will be selected.
b. Though there is no internship quota per country, we will favor the participation of a large number of member countries in the program.
c. The impact and dissemination of internship results through later dissemination activities will be highly valued.
d. The Selection Committee will be coordinated by INGENIO Business Incubator, member of URUNOVA, and integrated by representatives from national associations affiliated to RELAPI.

7. TERMS
a. The deadline for presentation of applications will be August 14, 2007 at 16:00 Uruguayan time (19:00 GMT).
b. Internship awards are expected to be announced by August 20, 2007.
c. The internships should be carried out during the months of August, September and October 2007 and should be completed by October 7, 2007, including the final report.
d. No reimbursements will be made for expenses presented to INGENIO after October 7.
e. The final report and proof of expenses should be submitted to INGENIO on or before October 7.
